Finally Saddiq Bey signs a free agent deal Hawks Rival

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks only had one big free agency decision to make this offseason, and that was to sign Saddiq Bey to a three-year, $20 million deal with the Wizards.

Bey averaged 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in 63 Hawks games last year before injuring his ACL toward the conclusion of the season. The 25-year-old endured a difficult breakup. He was unquestionably due for a considerably larger payment than $20 million, but he was unable to receive it due to an injury at the end of the season.

Bey averaged 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in 63 games for the Hawks last year before injuring his ACL toward the conclusion of the season. It was a difficult break for the 25-year-old. He was undoubtedly due for a far larger salary than $20 million, but he was unable to receive it due to an injury at the end of the season. Bey was drafted by the Pistons in the first round out of Villanova and moved to the Hawks at the 2023 deadline, giving Quinn Snyder a solid sharpshooter, particularly from the corner. If I were Atlanta, I would give Bey less than $7 million a year, even if he is coming off a big injury.

Bey will get a great deal for the last two years of his contract at that pricing point. However, the Hawks were never going to be subject to the luxury tax. This is simply wishful thinking. Tony Ressler has done everything he can to avoid paying the luxury tax penalty, and Saddiq Bey was not going to force his hand.

It’s unfortunate for Hawks fans, but this is the reality we’re dealing with right now.
